Has discrimination increased in the NHS? by Anandi Ramamurthy
Discrimination has increased in the NHS according to the 2019 WRES data. A 2020 survey of over 900 NHS workers in London found that women, Black ethnic minority staff, migrants, nurses and healthcare assistants were most at risk of discrimination and/or harassment at work. Experiencing either discrimination or harassment was associated with anxiety or depression, as well as physical (somatic) symptoms. Such experiences led to low job satisfaction and long periods of sickness absence.
